THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from October 11 – 17

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. But each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

Okay… this week I’m having a hard time choosing my top song (which may surprise you based on their initial ratings), so I’m shirking reponsibility and offering a triple crown tie. They all just need more time to settle into their respective places.

1. A2O Soul – Superstar (song of the week)

1. A2O Lite – Neon (song of the week)

1. Sung Hanbin – Undead (song of the week)

  1. Woah, so is it safe to assume that both A2O songs are a 9+ now? Or did Undead fell to an 8.75 (which I highly doubt but yk). But I’m impressed by how buzzy this week has been with so many singles, ofc it has had mixed results but we also got some standouts too. Undead is my song of the week

  2. Big week! Here’s everything I added:

    9. NAM WOO HYUN – DEVIL / I agree with this as the tt after listening to the whole album. 7.5
    8. SUNG HAN BIN – UNDEAD / 8
    7. MODYSSEY – Ridin’ / 8
    6. Xdinary Heroes – Obsessed with Youth / 8.25
    5. TripleS – Andless / 8.25
    4. PLAVE – Star Trace / 8.75
    3. A20 LITE – NEON / 9
    2. NCT WISH – I SPY / 9
    1. A20 SOUL – SUPERSTAR / Fastest riser of the year for me! I’m still not sure why a 15 member group has nearly identical voices. Maybe someone can explain it to me? But that’s not really a fair song criticism anyway. The song is sublime as is. 9.5

    B-sides

Xdinary Heroes – Love in dystopia / Wasn’t crazy about this album. 7.5
    DAILY:DIRECTION – TRAPPED / 7.75
    PARK WOO JIN – C-119 / 7.5
SUNG HAN BIN – Bloody Gravity / 7.5
    MODYSSEY – SILLY / 7.75
NCT WISH – Super Major / B-sides weren’t quite as strong this album. All their other ones for this past year have been outstanding. I’m definitely not complaining! Adding any b-sides is a treat. 8
    NCT WISH – Hubble Time / 8

  3. Honestly, if Superstar was sung by SHINee, EXO, or SNSD, it maybe have been exceptional. I can’t help but remember “Tell Me What To Do”

  4. One of the main things that I’ve appreciated about K-pop from about 2024-26 is the fact that a focus on more intentional melodies have been brought back. 2018-23 title tracks really shat on the bed when it came to making good verses, thank goodness we’ve left that era.
