Year-End List Recap: The Best Overall K-Pop Comebacks of 2022

The Best Overall K-Pop Comebacks of 2022There are still two more countdowns to come (Top 40 pop songs and Top Dramas), but now that the K-pop-specific lists are complete it’s time to add up the categories and find out which comebacks ranked strongest overall. From a pure numbers standpoint, I guess this is the most important list I’ll publish!

Just like last year, I took five categories and gave them a weighted rank. First place gets ten points, second place gets nine, tenth place gets one and anything below that counts as one point each. The only outlier was the albums list, which I split into two categories (mini and full). I gave first place in each category ten points, and went down the list from there. For the purpose of this countdown, I lumped all of OnlyOneOf’s Underground Idol releases as one “comeback.”

Here are the countdowns I included as part of this aggregate:

Top 50 Songs

Top 10 Albums

Top 10 Music Videos

Top 10 Choreography

Top 40 B-Sides

  1. Oh man, I’d have to rank OnlyOneOf #1 personally. 3 of my favorite singles of the year (#s 1,2,4 of idol series) plus 2 more excellent ones (#3 & Skinz). I’d have to rank IVE second. And G-IDLE and Blackpink would make my list too, but I know they’re not favorites in these parts, hah. I wish Golden Child had more singles this year…

    • OnlyOneOf had an uphill battle in this feature because the Underground Idol series couldn’t even be eligible for album, choreo or b-side. But, they were definitely one of 2022’s biggest standouts!

      • Right, I like your methodology. I was just going on feeling (btw, this is Jude above; it’s just easier to post under my brother’s name since I’m using his computer for the holidays, lol)

  2. Comebacks I liked best this year to the point of owning:
    NCT 127 – 2 Baddies
    Kai – Peaches
    Onew – Dice
    NCT Dream – Beat Box
    E’Last – Roar
    UP10tion – Novella
    Golden Child – Aura
    Tempest – Shining On
    Key – Gasoline
    Nine-I – I:Part 1
Ateez – the long title with the colon part X that has Cyberpunk on it
    MCND: Secret Mission: Chapter 2
    Rocky and JinJin – Restore

I would probably buy in some capacity once my budget recovers from Christmas:
    Cravity – Party Rock
    Verivery – Round III hole
Red Velvet – Reve Festival – Birthday
    CSR – Sequence: 7272
Purple Kiss – Geekyland and MeMem
    Pentagon – The Game

  3. The more that I hear ‘Forever 1’ the more I’m convinced that ‘Lucky Like That’ should have been the title track.

In terms of this year’s Resurrection Comebacks it would’ve put Soshi in 1st, instead they’re second to Kara for me. That Exid comeback though almost put me off Kpop for life, thank God for CSR.

    • Yeah, it’s sad about Marius…. and Kinpuri…. and Impactors…. and Tackey. Seriously, what’s going on over there?

(With that said, I never really expected Marius to rejoin the group. It just felt permanent somehow.)
