Rather than contain my “Risers and Fallers” feature to a single post in June, I’m going to share a bite-sized version at the end of each month. This will let me account for more songs and make a nice lead-in to the monthly round-up post.
I anticipate most of these ratings adjustments will be negligible: a 0.5 shift here, a 0.25 shift there. But, it’s a fun way to keep track of how my feelings on songs have changed over time – as well as which tracks currently have momentum on my playlist.
And remember, just because a song is marked as a “faller” doesn’t mean I hate it! Falling from a “9” to an “8.75” is no shame. 9+ rated songs occupy a totally different playlist in my music library, so I’m pretty particular about what qualifies. It’s a high bar.

Yay for Teddy Bear! Good to see it be a riser (I thought it might actually have decreased in rating).
Since I have been catching up with releases from 2021 and 2022, I’m going to bend the concept a little bit to ‘Songs I have discovered in February’. This month, my playlist looked like this:

Out of these Darl+ing has been my biggest riser. Once I made peace with what this song could have been, I started loving it more and more (that pre-chorus has a firm hold on my neurons TT). Fighting has also grown on me a lot!

Sugar Rush Ride being the biggest riser 👀. Reminds me of “Bang Bang Bang” because you initially hated that song due to the chorus and it became a huge grower lol.
What happened that made you like the track more?

I mean, I still don’t *love* it. But as is often the case, I’ve gotten over the period of wishing it was something else and learned to appreciate it for what it is.

To this day I have a like/hate relationship with both Bang Bang Bang & 2ne1’s Come Back Home. When people say they strongly dislike Teddy, I wonder if these are the two songs they have in mind?! I almost want to hear a mash-up of the two songs. (I’m afraid to check Youtube; probably it’s already been done.)

TXT’s ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ rating already rose once for me. I posted that it went up to 8.75 but it’s gone up even more since then. ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ has become one of my favourite Title Tracks of the year so far.
8.75 → 9/10
StayC’s ‘Teddy Bear’ is just addicting. The more I listened to it, the more I liked it.
7.5 → 8.5/10
THE BOYZ’s ‘Roar’ is now one of my favourite Title Tracks from them. I am obssessed with it.
8.75 → 9.5/10
Purple Kiss’s ‘Sweet Juice’ is just amazing. I love it.

Dreamcatcher’s ‘Reason’ is a song I completely forgot about until 2 weeks ago. I forgot how great it was.

TXT’s ‘Farewell, Neverland’ is now my favourite TXT song and favourite b-side of any group ever. ‘Hitman’ Bang just has a way with music. He’s incredible and this song is incredible.

Purple Kiss’s ‘Autopilot’ is a song I would have missed if it wasn’t posted as a Buried Treasure, so I am thankful to you. It’s an such a great song. The chorus is AMAZING and their voices are *chefs kiss*

Also, just to add to my already long comment, I discovered this song literally yesterday and I’m in love.
This has that K-band sound that I really love. I can hear The Rose, Day6 or ONEWE releasing this.

Woah, I love Zinnia and 9001! Found them when I was hunting for MVs on helipads. Give Stupid Boy a listen, it’s understated but cute and catchy!

Oooh that was a good call. I really really enjoyed that song. It’s really fun but the song that caught me was ‘Another Me’.
Also, THE BOYZ are my bias group and turns out Kevin from TBZ is good friends with Jogon from 9001. What a coincidence.

Oh, no kidding! Small world. I like Another Me as well — the whole thing (what on earth do you call a “single album” with three songs?) is solid, but the pronunciation of Mannequin gets me so bad that I can’t get into that one as much. I don’t mind pronunciation stuff in general, but sometimes one just gets you, haha. At any rate, they were pretty prolific in 2022, so let’s hope they keep it up!
