Song Review: Han Seungwoo (Victon) – Dive Into

Han Seungwoo - Dive IntoIt’s been a few years since we’ve heard from Han Seungwoo. After completing his military service, the soloist is back with the smooth R&B flavor of Dive Into. It’s a bump in energy from 2021’s sentimental See You Again, taking him back to the sounds of his debut mini album.

While Dive Into is pleasant and groovy all the way through, it never moves beyond its vibe to deliver a song that really grabs me. Seungwoo’s vocals are restrained and sleek, gliding over the beat with a lithe gracefulness. He chews on the second verse, offering a shot of extra rhythm. The production mostly stays out of the way, crafting the style of muted Cha Cha Malone beat that’s characterized many Jay Park tracks. I’ve got nothing objectively bad to say about Dive Into, but it doesn’t leave much of a mark either.

  1. Pleasant and vibey, though noting that the vibe is because it isn’t very rangey at all just putters along within an octave or so.

  2. This is very pleasant and almost unassuming yet groovy, and I’m honestly glad for it because at least he’s stuck to his style and his strengths once again especially when he’s coming off a long break. I do want to see him experiment more in the future, but for now it’s nice to see a song that sounds almost exactly like what I would expect from Seungwoo.

Anyway, speaking of Seungwoo – it looks like Victon are done, doesn’t it? After some of the members left and signed to new agencies, it doesn’t really look like there’s the potential for another group comeback although I’m sure they’ve left the door open in that usual vague way. That’s a bit of a shame – while I was never really into their sound, they did have some pretty consistent music.

  3. I’ve always had a soft spot for Victon and especially Seungwoo. I know it’s not music related but he just seems like such and genuine person and I really adore him.

I like this song as it’s in the same vein as Sacrifice. I enjoyed the album too, I love the r&b sound but I also appreciate that his album has some rock elements to it.

I’m hoping Victon will comeback like of like Got7 (but with better music).
