Freed from YG Entertainment’s clutches, iKON are now releasing music with greater frequency. Panorama arrives just months after the group’s latest album and sees the guys working with new collaborators. However, the track retains iKON’s classic sound.
At its best, Panorama works as a pleasant, sing-song mid-tempo that showcases a lighter side of iKON’s musical persona. I feel like I’ve heard many of its melodies before, but the overall vibe is well-suited to the group’s appeal. If I’m being picky, I would have removed the whistling during the chorus in favor of a more interesting instrumental hook. Whistling tends to wear out its welcome quite quickly and a more robust arrangement may have elevated Panorama‘s repetitive hooks.

I feel like I have heard this song a dozen times before. Pleasant.

Are you gonna review Homeboy by Xikers?

I tend to feel no sympathy for those artists who “I want to be free and I want to do what I like” and all they’re able to establish from that moment on is dust. Hoya and GOT7 paved the way (in particular, I would really know how poor Hoya should feel after watching INFINITE coming back so great while he’s vanished nowhere because their music didn’t fit his artistic expectations), and iKON seem to be following the same path.
Panorama is another failed and forgettable attempt to prove how good they are without a major, and the fact that their recent world tour was everything but successful (especially in Europe) might suggest to them that ambition is always right until it turns to conceit.

I want to think IKON is not trying to prove anything to anyone anymore. If anything, I feel there is some urgency to get out as much music as possible before they all enlist.
They got out of YG’s Dungeon into a new company who has allowed them 4 comebacks in the span of 5 months (Bobby’s and Jay’s solos, a full album, and now these 2 singles, “Panorama” and “TTM”) and I’m here for them!!!
All that while touring Asia, Europe and soon North America, etc.
They are busy, out there and hopefully happy.
I Like these two songs…they are not typical Kpop, super catchy or anything big, but they are very pleasant and listenable to me.
I’d give them both 8/10
