2024 is bounding out of the gate with debuts. ALL(H)OURS is the latest in a string of new groups, each competing for their own sliver of the market. It’s been a mixed bag so far, with Waker being my favorite of the bunch this month.
As I often say, the guys of ALL(H)OURS seem to have a ton of potential. K-pop just doesn’t debut groups unless they’re polished. That’s a given at this point. And with a stronger song, their cacophonous rock-meets-hip-hop sound could also be fun. However, Gotcha (으랏차차) feels too familiar and derivative for its own good. I’m sure what to write about it that I haven’t written thousands of times. In another world, the producers would have been able to take this turbo-charged energy and focus it into a series of tight hooks to create something as stirring and immortal as Rising Sun. Instead, the guys spend most of their time shouting and growling around a series of lackluster showpieces that feel like boilerplate boy group fare. It’s not bad… just unnecessary.

I might have to give it a few more listens to see where it ages but its decent.
7.75/10 for me

This might have been interesting some 4 or 5 years ago, as the production and performance are pretty good. But today some years on its just another one like this to add to the pile.

Good group name, though!

I really liked this one, again I’m not a huge fan of kpop “rappers” but these guys didn’t annoy me. I loved the chorus, especially the drums. I grew up listening to gogo (out of D.C) and the drums were reminiscent of that sound. Also, i’ve always been a fan of Alawn producing (Victon’s Mayday is one of my favorite kpop songs.
This song/debut also reminded me of P1harmony’s Siren, even the video is kind of similar. I’m excited to listen to the mini album later today.

It would have been *so much* better to choose Drift as the instrumental for a title track.

Not related, but wanted to see if you missed Ryu Sujeong’s release or if it’s not really relevant cause Lovelyz has disbanded in a few years now
I feel it was pretty interesting, but its up to you, if it’s worth a review or not!
