We’ve seen many long-awaited comebacks come to fruition lately, but Sistar19 has them all beat. It’s been a staggering eleven years since the duo last released music. That’s longer than some K-pop fans may have been alive! And with these two gracing our screens once more, we’re that much closer to a full Sistar reunion. Summer 2024 is ready and waiting, ladies!
The title of No More (Ma Boy) references Sistar19’s seminal debut track, though the song itself sounds more like the full group’s Brave Brothers produced material. They’ve taken things straight to the club with this one, adding a sultry mood to the track’s stabbing keys and disco sheen. It’s a great, familiar match for the ladies, even if No More doesn’t go the extra mile to elevate itself. The song hinges around the melody in its chorus, which is repeated often as both as a vocal hook and an instrumental riff. In this way, No More reminds me of BB Girls’ similar One More Time from last summer.
While there’s nothing about this song I dislike, it could certainly do with a big moment of release. No More spins its wheels rather than really letting loose and this is why it feels repetitive instead of robust. Hyolyn and Bora are expert performers and give the track plenty of personality. Nostalgia and goodwill align to elevate what might otherwise be a generic Ryan Jhun produced effort, but Sistar19 deserve the very best material money can buy.

Nice! First Aloha, and now this! They pair together really well. I had no idea it’s been 11 years.

I like this for what it is, but it doesn’t feel like a SISTAR track. a longer duration, rap verse from Bora, and Earth-shattering high notes and adlibs from Hyolyn would’ve improved this song immensely

the chorus is way too repetitive, i could barely finish the song

Pretty dull song.
This isn’t making the playlist.

it will make it into my playlist, except the little download for offline play button will be switched off to save space on my phone

maybe too much of “no no” but well girls are gorgeous, music video is gorgeous and the song is already growing on me

Feel quite repetitive for me coz the pre-chorus and chorus literally using the same phrases, a solid 7.5-8.0/10 for me.
Also Nick, just curious about your thought of their B-side “Saucy”? That’s a 9 for me but I do have a mix feeling about it… haha

Seeing the video reminded me of how rare a sexy concept is nowadays. I can’t think of a single act that does it. I’d like to see it more, some iconic tracks are attached to the image. Of course i want the ladies to only do it if they feel comfortable

I’m already having a similar experience to “one more time”. I enjoyed seeing the idols I’ve loved for a long time, but came away feeling like it’s a bit repetitive. Then here I am singing “no no no no nobody’s perfect no no” 😭

too repetitive but also i can’t lie i keep singing the no no no nobody’s perfect no no part … so i guess it’ll find its way in the playlist eventually, though who knows for how long. the mv is absolutely gorgeous though i’ve missed seeing bora and seeing them together… the title is a nod to ma boy, the dance feels like a nod to gone not around any longer… this is a feast for fans for sure. they’re so beautiful i’m just glad a comeback happened
for bora rap likers: she raps in saucy (the b side!) and it’s also just a bit longer than no more ma boy. it’s a much lighter song i think

It’s like a disco version of Wonder Girls “Nobody”… not the freshest sound but not bad either…
