As a casual observer, it can be difficult to remember where all the LOONA members ended up after the group’s dissolution. Some became Loossemble while others formed ARTMS. Yves joined neither, though she did have a hand in song composition for Loossemble. Instead, she’s embarked on her own with a new label and new sound. Loop offers the first glimpse of her career as a post-LOONA soloist.
This song wouldn’t be out of place on a LOONA album — or any of the group’s progenies, for that matter. It’s super stylish and atmospheric, pulsing on a sleek dance beat underlined by trendy percussion. It’s fitful and aloof, never giving in to the full excesses of dance music. Even when the beat expands during the chorus, the song plays things cool with an unbothered “ooh ooh ooh” hook. The rhythmic pre-chorus is more memorable, though the production strips too far back for my taste.
Rapper Lil Cherry offers a blast of firepower midway through the track, contrasting with Yves’s airy performance. The two voices work well together, making me wish they had a more compelling song to play with. When it comes down to it, Loop is just too empty to stick in memory. It feels more like background music at an H&M store than a career-setting highlight.

I wish the song didn’t end with the “ooh ooh” hook repeated again. I wish they just created a cool outro or extended the song. All that said, I’m happy with it because it’s more reminiscent of garage songs from back in the day. It’s a low 8 for me

I can’t decide if this is diet Kwon Eunbi or diet New Jeans. Yves was always the standout performer in LOONA, so I’m disappointed to see her debut with so little of her own personality.

The new jeans thing makes sense because it’s garage and newjeans will always be brought up when an artist decides to do that genre even though they didn’t create it. But how is this diet kwon eunbi? It sounds like nothing she has released

Definitely no “new”, though I wonder how much creative input she even had back then. Judging from her updates on private messaging services, I was already expecting something different and more personal from her for this EP.
Though I can also see the similarity to D-1.

Yves is my favorite K-pop idol. I think she’s the best. I hate to say it, but I don’t love this. It’s growing on me, but I really wanted (I always really want) more melody and less style. I want songs, not attitudes.

idk, I always associate songs that have just oooh ohh la la la la’s as a chorus with TRIPLES now and I really don’t like those type of songs. It just doesn’t stick with me. I wish it had been catchier. And what’s with soloists debuting with rappers now? Like, its such a dead air section when they perform it in music stages and the rapper doesn’t even show up

I feel like the “boring” and “empty” sound made this song unique. I personally am obsessed with this song because it’s a casual but catchy song, it feels like a a sip of water in a world full of soda (??). My raring: 8,9,8,9
