My My My! (from Fallin’ Light – 2019)
I love the glistening synth tones that open this track. They set expectations for a brisk verse that never materializes, but My My My! gains steam as it goes. The chorus is a standout, showcasing different rhythmic features than we’re used to from GFriend. I enjoy how sprightly the instrumental becomes, though it needs a stronger (less repetitive) set of melodies to match its intensity. Unfortunately, we plunge back into a ho-hum verse between choruses. In this way, too much of the song plays as a tease.

I think the chorus is atrocious. Do I like the production, yes? But it feels like a last minute change. Almost as if they knew the top line wasn’t outstanding and needed to spruce it up. There are bright spots but it’s just not for me
