THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from April 27 – May 3

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

    • It’s definitely rough around the edges but I would love to see this succeed so they can find better material within this same soundscape. Thanks for sharing! I’ll keep my eye on them 🙂

      • i was sure you would have been interested in them! i agree, the songs deserves a better production (the mixing was rough and i could have done without the chants in the pre-chorus) but it definitely has potential and it’s nice to see a group setting apart from the ‘beigepop wave’

  3. a b-side being 1st 🤣

I still think Gnarly is bad, but I’m getting used to it now because the girls really sell it in the performances. the chorus is so catchy.

  4. Am I the only one for whom Gnarly grew this week? The live performances are soo good! It’s like a 7.5-8 for me. It’s one of those songs whose novelty eventually wear off and I don’t listen to them again but for now, I am having fun everytime it is on.

Also, Katseye, much like Le Sserafim seem to have a very strong stage presence – although I don’t think all their songs are great, the songs grow a lot with all the dance challenges and performances.

  5. I think I like Trendz’ Chameleon?…I don’t like the shouty aspects, but I really like the vocal layers.

I can listen to TxT’s Love Language…it’s an ok song I guess.

I liked Nexz’ bside Slomo…if they can sing this live, I would be pleasantly surprised.

I have no idea how I feel about Riize’s BBB…to me it’s an NCT unit song and I find myself thinking “oh, this is Taeyon’s part, or this is Doyoung’s section, Mark’s section, etc…). It’s not a bad song, it just throws me off and not Riize’s style AT ALL.

GNARLY is still a 1… I can’t stand it and I also cannot stand the performances.
