Boy group TIOT have waffled between the wonderful and the frustrating, finding most success on this blog when they let their vocals do the talking on softly anthemic pop-rock. New single My Pride lacks the obnoxious production of their most polarizing work but struggles to find a compelling replacement.
My Pride feels like a late-album b-side you might find on any boy group album — the kind of pleasant but forgettable fare chucked in to fill out a tracklist. This style of song works well as connective tissue but doesn’t make a very compelling title track. My Pride‘s blend of bright synth and trap beats has a hard time distinguishing itself and the melodies succumb to predictable chant-sing that truncates the group’s strong vocals. Still, they manage to fire off some nice bursts of harmony. There’s nothing offensive about this, but it doesn’t feel like top shelf material either.

There is a lovely falsetto voice in there.
The rest of the song sounds like one of those Latin-flair songs from late 2010’s every had as a b-side. It is the kind of song to release when it is time to release another song and you don’t have anything better around.
