Song Review: TXT – Where Do You Go?

TXT have gone all out for their new Japanese album, following single Can’t Stop with a second music video for album track Where Do You Go. I really like Can’t Stop and absolutely love my own cobbled together mix that adds a dance break and extra chorus, but of the album’s other new songs Where Do You Go was the one that stood out to me most.

This is a simple pop track buoyed by a strong, memorable melody and bouncy production that delivers upbeat vibes. The song doesn’t do anything new or notable within TXT (or any other artist’s) discography, but sometimes you just need a straightforward sing-along moment. Where Do You Go is hummable from the very first listen, repeating its jaunty refrain often. The production ably supports the melody, utilizing a crisp arrangement with a steady kick to drive things forward. This soft pop/rock sound has always been a great fit for TXT.

Unlike Can’t Stop, Where Do You Go is given the time it needs to unfold in a satisfying way. The song feels complete, climaxing in a final chorus that brings everything together with cinematic heft. The HYDE-produced SSS (Sending Secret Signals) may be a more interesting piece of music on the album, but this is certainly the most crowd-pleasing.

  1. whoa your Can’t Stop mix sounds awesome, I might do the same thing lol

This one is super solid, only complaint is that everything in my being was hoping the last chorus to have a key change… that would have been splendid

  3. I think it’s just me but seriously, I really feel Golden Child’s presence in this song. I’m not saying that I am a fan of them (I adore their music), but this is something different from what I typically hear from TXT. Definitely a nice addition to my playlist!

Nick, thank you so much for introducing us to Golden Child. They’re truly amazing and without their songs, I don’t think my playlist will ever be the same since Genie, Eyes on You, and I’m Falling are definitely in my top 10 most-played songs. (I wish that they could come back soon)!

  4. Ah, so refreshing to hear an actual song. A song that sounds like a song, with actual song craft involved, and actual singing too. And it sounds like the singers like singing their song too.

I bet the audience will also like singing along, they stretch the where do you go oh oh oh oh oh oh oh as a call and response. Audience contest Over here oh oh oh oh oh oh, you up there oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, over there oh oh oh oh oh, and repeat.

I second the comment that a key change for the final chorus would have been the chef’s kiss, but as is, it is mighty fine.

  5. Sometimes, a group just has to do some simple pop without any ambitions on setting a new standard or ‘challenging’ the industry (challenging in quotations since a lot of K-pop that attempts to challenge the norm just end up as the norm itself, no matter the execution) and I think in txt’s case, when they have been so polarising for many years, this feels like a great reset.

I may be restating myself from don’t stop, but although I doubt this is a direction they’ll go in, it’s just nice particularly as someone who considers herself a fan of the members now more than the music to have a song by them to go back to after what I’d consider a streak of mildness. Sometimes I think I became a fan too late but releases like these are what keeps my hopes up, and keeps me in the fandom.
