Song Review: ALLDAY PROJECT – One More Time

I’ve made quite a swerve with ALLDAY PROJECT’s Famous since its release back in June. The first impression was not favorable, and as the song started to gain purchase on the charts I couldn’t help but wonder why. However, repeated listens (and eventual ubiquity) helped Famous worm its way into my brain until I became quite addicted. Say what you will about producer Teddy, but crafting songs that do this is one of his greatest gifts.

New single One More Time is a different beast entirely. While Famous‘s circuitous structure took time to reveal its charm, One More Time is designed for maximum impact upon landing. It’s been awhile since I’ve heard a song like this in K-pop — something that feels glossy and widescreen while still retaining the era’s overarching trends. One More Time melds the anthemic EDM energy of a 2009 Black Eyed Peas song to a skittering drum and bass rhythm that’s pushed to be bigger and bolder than the genre is usually known for. The track operates well in both of these realms, only suffering when the tempo slows (second verse rap, why must you still do this to us??).

Refreshingly, One More Time gives itself over three minutes to play with, allowing for an extended build during verse one and a rousing finale that feels like a natural extension of the song rather than the tacked on breakdown Teddy productions have become known for. If one thing’s keeping the song from bumping up to a “9” rating, it’s the feeling that the music is still holding back when it should absolutely explode. There’s no reason for its buzzkill second verse and One More Time takes too long to right itself after that sonic misstep.

  1. I like the song and I agree with your points. Tarzzan’s rap was just awful. hopefully this is the direction their music is gonna go (and either make Tarzzan sing or give his rap parts to Woochan.)

  2. I think the rating is a tad too high. I like it, its just that it sounds like its held back…a lot. The prechorus needs to grow on me and the chorus just doesnt hit the mark.

    8.25 for me

    • fml, im starting to love it more and more. I feel like ive replayed it at least 15x today.

One thing, I seriously cant unhear “potty” when they say “party” and it loses me for a sec

  3. I wished somebody would hit a high note and the song just explodes, but it is definitely a good track (also given how much I love EDM) except of course for Tarzzan’s rap verse. He ain’t a bad rapper but that was awful.

  4. It’s good but doesnt develop like you expect it to. Yes it is already longer than half of modern kpop singles but is it really too much to ask for like…30 more seconds to really tie everything together 🥲 8.25 for me

  5. I think its fine.

But I have a problem with songs which tell me to “dance with me now”, and don’t have any beat that makes me want to actually dance. How does one dance to this song besides bopping up and down? Also “put your hands up” need to be retired.

For the music, the skittering drum does a lot of heavily lifting. The outro is great. Maybe since this is Teddy we will here that again on more songs.

Flat 8 for me, at best.

  6. I think the chorus is a huge missed opportunity, the melody is strong but just think what it would sound like with some lush, layered synths behind it… That said, this is probably the best song ADP has put out so far.

  7. I’m not a second verse rap hater, especially because I think a trap breakdown can hit if done well, but god did this rap kill any desire for me to listen to this song again. Beyond just being a controversy magnet, Tarzzan is not a good songwriter. I’ll give them this, they truly did capture the feeling of a 2010s EDM track with an unknown rapper superficially attached. I truly feel his only redeeming quality as a performer is that he can do acrobatics.

  8. To the person who said ALLDAY should have been just a girl’s trio: amen.

There are parts of this that work for me, parts that need development (the bridge could have been extended to really build something up for, another thing, the finish), and then the one part that reminds me that, unfortunately, Tarzzan was always a perfect fit for a YG adjacent label if you saw those Blackpink predebut tapes. Concessions will never be made over something that far down.

I feel like if this had a beat like Just B’s Snow Angel up to the bridge, just slightly more chug than this one, it’d help a bit. Like this needed to be a full club beat in order to sell it, in my opinion.

7 (7, 6, 8, 7), never thought I’d outright say the rapping made a song unlistenable, but I’m not going to slog through that verse to enjoy the rest of the track.

  9. i like this song and i wish i could enjoy it more but idk, the men kinda taint it for me like pls, tarzzan should just stop rapping altogether

  10. The song is genuinely good until Tarzzan rap parts. I do not hate the man, but I wish they could made the rap parts more synergistic with the entire song.

They could do it for Famous, but the second verse here is just buzzkill. The outro ending could be developed to have more bombastic energy rather than EDM chops

  11. the chorus is catchy, but it’s missing a full explosion. maybe some reverb or a blend of voices would’ve made it more vibrant and dynamic. it needed a red velvet chorus. i’m surprised you like the sing-talking in this because i didn’t… i think with more vocally capable vocalists, it would’ve been better for me. the second verse rap had SOO much potential holy moly wtf was that… rap, lyrics, rhythm, so so so off.

  12. I must be allergic to this type of song. Really not for me. There’s one melody repeated the whole track, a non existing chorus and they boys can’t rap, seriously.

Shame the production had potential. Big miss for me.

  13. This is the first time I’ve heard this group. I don’t think Tarzzan’s part was bad… I think it’s done that way to slow down the song midway to pick up the 2nd half up since they lack a huge vocal moment. Like someone said, it’s missing the explosions needed for such an energetic track, in the end it’s left to the instrumental. The chorus itself is slightly underwhelming but the track overall is nice. I can see them playing this in malls and stuff.
