Buried Treasure: idntt – Rage Problem

A K-pop act’s title track isn’t always the best song on their album, even if it’s the one most people will hear. Sometimes, b-sides deserve recognition too. In the singles-oriented world of K-pop, I want to spotlight some of these buried treasures and give them the props they deserve.

It’s been a very sleepy start to K-pop’s 2026, meaning anything with a pulse will stand out. Boy group/conglomerate idntt’s newest mini album isn’t much to write home about, but its songs have a welcome sense of energy that feels more essential than what most of the industry is currently offering. In fact, I enjoy most (or maybe all?) of its b-sides more than its title track.

Rage Problem‘s title sounds as if it will be one of those bombastic shout-a-thons that K-pop’s boy groups have become known for, but the song takes a different approach. Rather than clanging pots and pans over your head, the production opts for a more refined blend of electro elements to build a sleek, propulsive sound. Much of the song (especially its vocal production) takes influence from hyperpop, but I also hear a bit of the big-tent EDM that was popular fifteen years ago. The melodies are mostly an afterthought, which is par for the course at this moment in time. However, Rage Problem‘s texture and excitement buoy the track. I wish they’d promote something like this as a title track.

  1. Really interesting sound and texture to this, it’d be so cool to hear more of this in k-pop – the vocal melodies actually sound like they would fit into some golden age k-pop sounds to me.

  2. I will listen to this in a bit, but what on EARTH do we need with a “boy band” with so many members? They are outdoing themselves now.
