The Y2K trend has been done to death in K-pop and the songs themselves rarely sound all that Y2K anymore. Girl group Queenz Eye seem to believe there’s room for even more nostalgia, naming their new single after the era. It’s funny (and sad) that after years of this Y2K fever we still haven’t gotten a new K-pop song in the vein of Max Martin/Cheiron produced Britney/BSB/Nsync. Where are these millennial pop slammers?
Instead, we have this Y2K, which uses the term as a catchphrase while sounding nothing like 2000-era pop. This feels incredibly cynical, feasting on the dregs of a dying trend. Simply referencing song titles of that era and saying “millennium” a few times isn’t enough to make this convincing. I wonder if anyone involved in the production was even alive back then? The only thing this track might have in common with Y2K is the obnoxious sound and style of the Bratz dolls, though even they didn’t emerge until 2001. As a connoisseur of turn-of-the-millennium pop music, this comeback is actively offensive to my ears and my very sensibility!

It’s not that bad to warrant a 4.5 imo 😭 but like, it sounds like a really boring Disney or Nickolodeon track, some shit meant for the “popular clique” or whatever.
6 (6, 6, 6, 6) for me

QUEENZ EYE! Oh my god it’s been forev- oh no, why that rating?
*listens to the song*
…I remember when they had that back to back greatness that was UnNormal and This is Love. This is… and I just noticed 2/3 of this group aren’t even the original members. This is taking the 2 remaining members of Queenz Eye and slotting them into a new girl group at this point.
The song itself is grating to me in the way that kids music is an audio trigger for me. Like I’m going to have unsavory flashbacks if I think too hard while listening. There is nothing particular with the production that makes this noticeable, the hook can get annoying and brash at times, and yeah, this is just a big downgrade in comparison to what we used to get.
4 (5,5,4,2). This song is not debut material, and instead of trying again from scratch, they take the remains of a pretty much slashed girl group, added some members, and told them all “hey, work with this.” Nobody wins from this.

I feel about the same as others, sounds like an afternoon Disney kids channel music special. Its not bad per se it just skews really young. I can’t imagine anyone over the age of 10 liking this.
