THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from October 18 – 24

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. But each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. Another release from this week that I’m happy about is sionion’s “Secret Crush”! She previously performed as Sia in eite, so it’s lovely to see her back with a new name and trying phonk.

The MV is so cute and stylish. I love the pink chat-window details and the confession being typed and deleted. It feels sweet and playful, and I’m really enjoying this new direction for her.

  2. My favorite of the week had to be All of My Life by a huge margin.

Here are some notable bsides too:

    Rude Talk – Nmixx

Like You, Not Personal, Coloring, Outside – jeonghan x joshua (svt)

Hot Blood, The Low,  99(Boiling Point)- Max Changmin (tvxq)

Let’s finish off October strong everyone 😁

  3. My adds this week:

    3. LNGSHOT – Masterpiece / 7.75
    2. IVE – Looks Can Kill / 8
    1. ATEEZ – Drip / 8.5

Not sure how I feel about The Sun still. I think I need to hear it more, and with the album ideally.

I liked ALL the EVNNE b-sides. The tt makes no sense to me.

    This was also very nice:

  4. I thought the Max Changmin album was decent overall. It’s keeping me coming back, even if no one song has really wowed me. It’s just comfy I guess!

  5. So many releases and I only added 2 songs (plus one from last week) to my playlist🫤:

    Dreamies – The Sun

    VO1D – My Youth

    CantBBlue- Bluende

I still have to check out the bsides!!

  6. This week releases were not as strong as previous week, just a bit decent. I also recommended can’t be blue – bluende. They are really one of the most interesting independent bands from south korea. The bridge was exceptional and the catharsis you get during the outro was the highlight. It is no worse than NCT Dream – The Sun.
