Good old VAV! I haven’t written about them in nearly three years. It’s good to see the group back. Their discography has varied so much in sound, from the early funk-pop days to their latter experiments with darker moods. New single Designer brings the guys back to the Latin-inspired style they’d adopted in 2018-19. They pull it off well, but have often struggled to find memorable songs to compliment this energy.
Designer is another non-starter for me. The tempo just drags too much to spur excitement. The strength of VAV’s vocals compensate, and the chorused hook is pretty catchy. But in an industry stuffed with similar material, Designer doesn’t do enough to establish its own place. It feels as if the song is simply checking off boxes without much fire or invention behind it.

It’s fricking solid. I’m a sucker for salsa, and they do the style well. Not life-changing but it’s good to see them in strong form.

Oh how I’ve missed VAV, I really like this. Out of all their Latin inspired songs this one might be my fav. Their strength has always been their vocals and although Baron isn’t here I feel they were still able to carry this song. Zui and St. Van are such amazing vocalist.
I’m also loving the fact that a number of guys have been discharged or will be discharged from the military this year. I’m ready for the adults to show these youngins how to actually sing, perform, and be engaging on stage.

Staring with the basics…they all look so handsome🫣. I mean, I usually don’t care about visuals, but VAV’s are an exception for some reason. Plus Ziu’s and St Van’s vocals are great, as well as Ayno’s, Jacob’s and Lou’s dancing.
About the song…I like it a lot. It’s not something that blows my mind but it is fun and listenable. I often feel like this about VAV’s music. The voice effects bother me a little bit so I would rate it an 8/10✌🏻
