The Bias List is a K-pop blog that also covers a fair amount of J-pop. But just like most music fans, I enjoy tracks from all around the world. So, I thought I’d start a monthly round-up of some of the non-K-pop songs that have caught my ear. No ratings — just highlights!

ÁSDÍS – Angel Eyes
I think this is the first Icelandic artist I’ve featured on the blog, and Angel Eyes‘ sparkling synthpop is a great place to start!
Bebe Rexha x David Guetta – One In A Million
Boilerplate EDM/House music. It’s basically like When Love Takes Over, part two.
Bonnie McKee – Hot City
I like this better than Slay. It’s like a mix of 80’s pop and Teenage Dream era Katy Perry. Perfect for the summer.
Calvin Harris – Desire (ft. Sam Smith)
A great follow-up to Miracle. The trance vibes are strong with this one!
Carly Rae Jepsen – Psychedelic Switch
I haven’t been crazy about Carly’s music for awhile now, but I enjoy how uptempo this is.
Charli XCX – Speed Drive
As much a mash-up as an original song, Speed Drive is still hard to resist.
Darin – Satellit
My favorite song on this month’s list. It’s a propulsive banger that’s up there with his best material.
Dylan – Liar Liar (ft. Bastille)
Very catchy pop with a strong synthwave influence.
Jessie Ware – Freak Me Now (ft. Róisín Murphy)
One of my favorites from Jessie’s new album gets a new mix and a fun video.
Neea River – Love Me Out Of Lonely
This plays like a sonic sequel to the excellent All The Way, and I’m loving how quickly Neea has cemented her sound. Bonus points for that crazy high note at the song’s climax!
September – Ocean Of Love
This is Petra Markland’s first recording under stage name September in well over a decade, and the wait was worth it. It’s a euphoric banger with just enough character to avoid feeling generic.
Slayyyter – Erotic Electronic
This is certainly… a music video! Probably best not to watch at work. The song feels kind of like an interlude, but will add some great texture to her upcoming album.
THEOZ – Någon Annan
It’s so nice to know we can always count on THEOZ to release a super-ebullient, upbeat pop track every few months!
Hot City is killer, so glad Bonnie McKee is finally getting to put out her stuff.
I really want to enjoy the Freak Me Now remix but the audio of it sounds really low quality for some reason??
Psychedelic Switch is definitely the highlight from Carly’s new album. It sounds like if Discovery-era Daft Punk did a collab with her.

I knew you’re going to love Psychedelic Switch from Carly’s new album. It’s very upbeat and synth pop-inspired. It reminds me of her Emotion era.

I recently discovered Cry for You by September around 2 months ago, and Ocean of Love is amazing! as someone who grew up in the 2000s, I really like Addison Rae’s new EP, abysmal track lengths aside. she should’ve included at least 2 more songs from her leaked music though (there’s around 25+ of them), and judging from those songs plus with the right promotion, she’s basically a future main pop girl.

Have you ever listened to Gunship? They just released a single ahead of their next album called Tastes Like Venom that really grabbed my attention, along with an older song of theirs called The Video Game Champion.

Coming back to this months later to say I love this! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂

That Dylan track is fire! Digging Bonnie McKee, too.
Also been listening to Olivia Rodrigo’s bad idea right (need a kpop act to incorporate that filthy lead guitar tone at 2:21 ASAP…baby) and the glorious 80s instrumental cheese of Dimi Kaye’s The Neon Shredder.
