Xodiac’s music has been a mixed bag thus far. The chanted Throw A Dice sent my head spinning, while the fizzy pop of Special Love delivered a welcome sugar rush. Pre-release Lemonade lands somewhere in the middle, pulling elements from both extremes.
On its face, Lemonade is a groovy mid-tempo with strong hip-hop elements and a bit of Latin rhythm thrown in for good measure. It’s well-performed, but the hook is too repetitive and silly to work. “Lemonade” makes for an awkward metaphor, and the song’s production and melodies aren’t strong enough to counter the distracting lyrics. It all feels pretty banal — a boy-group-song-by-numbers that was likely passed on by other agencies before landing in Xodiac’s studio. They just need stronger material.

I think the song does have some charms. The spritely pace among them, and the layered vocals. Maybe high 7’s for me.

Aww it’s kinda cute. Very repetitive for sure, but I like that bit of Latin flair.
