Nomad debuted earlier this year with the groovy No Pressure. I honestly had to go back and re-read my review to remember that song, but after jarring my memory its “no pressure, no diamond” hook quickly wormed its way back in. I suppose this is a testament to its enduring catchiness, even if I personally disliked that element of the track. Seven months later, the guys are back with their follow-up Call Me Back — another song I’ll most likely forget shortly after they stop promoting it.
I may not have loved that “no pressure, no diamond” hook, but it’s more of a calling card than you can find in Call Me Back. The guys take a slower, sentimental approach this time around, showcasing vocals over acoustic guitar and trap-influenced percussion. This isn’t a bad set-up, but the execution leaves something to be desired. The melodies are limp and repetitive, failing to capture attention. There’s just not enough variety within the song’s structure, despite how impassioned the members sound performing it. Without any identifiable high points, Call Me Back unfolds without a sense of musical storytelling. It feels like a flat line all the way through.

Its a fine mid-tempo, middle of the road, middle of the pack.
What I really what to know is what sound device does this song sound good on? My current earbuds have the vocal placed way forward and loud, and not in a good way. The vocal sounds distorted like it was recorded on cell phone speaker set too loud then overlayed over an acoustic guitar recorded in someone’s living room.
