Trust (from Snowflake – 2016)

Even GFriend’s strongest albums are not devoid of their sappy ballads. Sappy ballads are a tried and true formula in K-pop and the sentimental, nostalgic side of me doesn’t mind them at all – especially as album closers. However, songs like Trust also don’t inspire me in any meaningful way. This actually sounds a bit like a holiday ballad – perfect for an album called “Snowflake.” The vocals and nice but they’re not given much to do. The melodies remain pretty inert throughout and the instrumental churns out a flat OST-esque sound.

  1. I think this is a song where the whole point is to listen to Yuju lull you to sleep. It’s fine, but not nearly as good as Falling Asleep Again or Rain in the Springtime.
