THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from May 4 – 10

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. Honestly, this week was so slow and boring, I don’t wanna say anything about it.

Though I always wanted to ask this: does these “notable B-sides” usually includes those that you’d give an 8 or above, but not high enough to write a Buried Treasure about? (like they’d be an 8-8.25 for you?)

  2. Horrible week…either that or there’s something wrong with me because Day6 had a comeback and I cannot even remember how that song goes😩

All my hopes are on Riize’ and BoyNextDoor’s comebacks🤞🏻

    • There’s nothing wrong with you. It’s been a string of bad weeks in K-pop and this was one of the most unremarkable. I mean… it kind of speaks volumes that my top choice for this week was a song that wasn’t even originally released this week!

Next week should be better. BND’s song sounds promising, TWS are releasing an mv for an excellent b-side, The Wind have an anniversary single, Jin’s album could be good and we might even get some sort of RIIZE premiere prior to their official comeback date. Plus, it’s my birthday this week 🙂

      • Hey, I know, I’m just whining a little, but thanks for the reassurance.🙃

Kpop is such a simple pleasure in my life and it’s the first time in 6 years I feel I have to try to find my music elsewhere.  This makes me a little sad. But it’s fine, I’ll get over it.

Nearing the mid year mark, I can say I’ve only LOVED a handful of songs (CIX Thunder, ONF The Stranger, TREASURE Yellow, TBZ VVV, and CYE All My Poetry.  CRAVITY’s Now or Never, and TREASURE’s Last Night from December were really good too).

I really do not like to rely on the big four groups, but hopes are high for BND (and maybe RIIZE)🤞🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻.

  3. Haven’t really paid attention to any of the releases this week. Nothing’s grabbed my attention, plus it’s finals week so I’m not going out of my way to check everything out.

That said, I fell in love with Mave’s Pandora all over again this week. I’ve been looping it while I take breaks from studying to get more water and stuff like that. Something about that song scratches my brain in a good way. Good rap, amazing vocals, and I still vividly picture the choreo though it’s been a bit since the song came out. Good song and a solid debut, and I’m very glad I revisited it. 🙂
