THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from June 1 – 7

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. Hi Nick! I’ve created a virtual (real people, just not physically in contact) kpop inspired girl group on instagram under my label, FOM RECORDS. It’s composed of 9 girls who are passionate about singing that won’t be able to perform their songs together because they come from different countries. I’ve recently published to spotify the instrumental of their debut song, set to release in July. I don’t think it’s your type of song, but I’d like if you could still give me some feedback. https://open.spotify.com/track/4nkHBLcXYrslGyNHpYDTbG?si=q67lCquzSW6r4AtbobplnA&context=spotify%3Asearch.

PS: i promise the lyrics wont be about being the richest/baddest 😭

  2. Kpop wasn’t the most exciting this week, but there was a deluge of exciting western pop releases this Friday. Though admittedly I haven’t checked out most of it yet as I’ve been savouring The Knocks’ and Dragonette’s collab album finally dropping.

Love Me Alive might be my favourite of the non-single tracks, but their cover of Pete Townshend’s Let My Love Open The Door feels like the track that would resonate most with your blog and audience.

  3. Katseye dropped two new remixes of Gnarly this week, both of which I think make the song better. (The song itself is also kind of growing on me in a weird way, but the remixes are better imo.)

The Ice Spice version is fun. She’s actually got a pretty decent verse and normally I’m not fond of her music or rap style, but she did a pretty good job here. I’d love to see a drag queen lipsyncing to this version, splits and all. I’ll miss the Siri voice saying “Gnarly” though, because it is also very fun.

The Lara remix, on the other hand? Yes. Amazing. 10/10. It feels like someone threw it in a blender with Charli XCX and it’s exactly what the song needed. No notes. Thank you Lara, this is why you’re my bias.
