At the end of each month, I look back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists. I take my own ratings into account, but there’s a bit of wiggle room as certain songs tend to grow or fade.
July 2025 Overall Thoughts
In the context of this year, the past two months have been pretty strong. Or rather, they’ve been pretty solid. I say this because there have been many good-to-great releases but frustratingly few knock-my-socks-off standouts. However, sometimes quantity compensates for quality and that was the case for the first half of July.
In contrast to last year’s starkly populated July, the first two weeks of this month were stuffed with releases. Better yet, they were stuffed with good releases. In fact, I think July might have set a new record for the number of song reviews on this blog. We had many full albums, with SM Entertainment utilizing the format particularly well. We had strong debuts from groups like AHOF and 1VERSE and strong follow-ups from rookies like Close Your Eyes and NOWZ. Veterans also shone, with the likes of Super Junior, NCT Dream, BLACKPINK and ATEEZ all releasing solid material.
Then, halfway through the month things started to fall apart. Not only were there less big releases, but the quality of these tracks definitely dipped. We had some outright clunkers (Picasso and Stylish say hi) from acts who should know better and some of this era’s worst trends reared their ugly head yet again.
When it came down to it, picking my top song of the month was quite easy. It really looms over everything else. Spots two and three were more competitive, though not too difficult to place in the end. I liked both songs instantly and each has grown even further from there. Candidates for an imaginary fourth place slot would probably be ATEEZ and BLACKPINK.
This month also saw the start of Boys II Planet, which is sure to spawn a very successful group when all is said and done. I’ve been (somewhat reluctantly) recapping each episode if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Meanwhile, the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack truly exploded in popularity this month. I also wrote about that here.
J-pop had a pretty decent month as well. My top three was actually competitive, for once. My number two pick has a music video (a prerequisite for being chosen in this round-up) but it isn’t yet available online, so I posted a clip instead.
With few promising announcements so far, August could be a bang or a bust. It’s hard to know at this point, but I’m excited for new albums from Key and BoA and I’m curious how Big Hit’s new boy group will sound. August has historically been a pretty strong month for new releases, so let’s hope this year follows that tradition.

The way I could smell the top 3 from a mile, though I was lowkey considering Nowz and Dream switched 😭 but well, the month was pretty strong, but sadly, Picasso and Stylish showed up, put a big fat curse on the rest of the month, tanked the ratings by a bit and dipped like nothing happened. But overall, it was a decent month.
Anyways, my rankings:
1- Rendezvous (AHOF)
2- Everglow (NOWZ) (Ngl, I played this more than Rendezvous, but yeah, that song has a slight edge from an objective perspective lol)
3- Express Mode (Super Junior)
Honourable Mentions: In Your Fantasy (ATEEZ) (a close third!), Jump (Blackpink), Snowy Summer (Close Your Eyes), Yes (HYO), Jellyous (ILLIT), Chiller/BTTF (NCT Dream), I Want It (STAYC) (another close third!) and Waste No Time (XngHan&Xoul)

The second and third places were reversed until just a few days ago! Everglow has crazy staying power.

It takes a special song like Rendezvous for me to genuinely like a rock-inspired or rock-infused sound. I think that’s why Everglow doesn’t really hit the same for me. I would say BTTF is my second favorite of the month, but I wouldn’t know what to place on the third spot.

I’ve got Super Junior, and also 1Verse-Multiverse. And that is all.

I never thought that Jump would grow on your that much because 0.5 increase is a lot for you 😂

Really difficult to pick just three. I liked ALL of these for different reasons:
Ateez – In Your Fantasy
Oneus – X
Ahof – Rendezvous
1verse – Multiverse /Shattered
Nowz – Everglow
OnePact – Passout / Yes No Maybe
NouerA – B&B
Ascent – Don’t Move
I need more time to listen to Snghan&Xoul because I have not been able to take in their songs yet.

I wonder how you systemize your music experience, mine is pretty chaotic.
My top 3 are Somi – Extra, xikers – up all night and Twice – let love go.
I brushed away Everglow when I first listened to it but now it’s growing on me fast. Yes and r u okay? was addicting too. And my love for Illit’s mini won’t fade away anytime soon!

A mix of song rating, play count and vibes, to be honest! Things sometimes switch around but overall I tend to be able to systemize it pretty well.

I really hope this month is better than last month.
Also, TEEN TOP are coming back later this month!

just listened to OSHIBAI. Oh my god it’s so good. Avu-chan might be absent from their production going forward, but his influence on their vocals and delivery will live on I think (I hope). I can’t even imagine containing those voices in some generic milquetoast song haha. I’m truly hoping their intensity is matched by the songwriting for many years into their career
