THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from August 31 – September 6

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. Treasure’s Paradise and ZB1’s Ikonic are both wonderful in their own way❤️

Third I would say JunK’s R&B Me…I find it so listenable in the sense that for example, if Paradise and Ikonic play back to back and then this song comes in, it just gives me room to breath in a very pleasant way.

    As for Bsides:

Stray Kids – In My Head

    Day6 – Our Summer / Dream Rider

Treasure – Better than Me / Now Forever / Everything

    A good week for me😊

  2. I crushing on the new Lim Young Woong album, says this old lady.

I have also heard along the way that Lim Young Woong is TXT’s Choi Soobin’s uncle, which makes me like TXT marginally more.

        • Honestly the fact that fans can just make something up on reddit and google AI will cite it as a fact is so fucking dark but we don’t have time to get into that… remember not to trust the AI overview folks. I mean it doesn’t matter in this instance but for things that actually matter 😭

          • The song “Wise Up, Sucker” by Pop Will Eat Itself comes to mind, volume set to 11, whenever I think about how dumb the algorithms can be vacuuming up all the schlock buried in subreddit forums. The band name, the song name, the lyrics, they all fit.

  3. For me it was also Band-aid
It’s interesting that you highlighted Monsta X’s songs written by members. The company should’ve allowed one of them to produce a title for their 10th anniversary.

  4. I’m going crazy because band-aid by kickflip is not on Apple Music but the music video for it is… they must have some sort of ongoing licensing issue because their single Freeze is subtitled “Apple music edition” for some reason.

    • The apple music edition refers to an apple music special mixing, even aespa and newjeans/njz had that maybe it’s some sort of collab with AM. The original mixing of Freeze is also available the same time the album was released.

As for Band-Aid, it’s a prerelease bc there’s still no album release yet maybe it’s their strategy to let the song marinate to chart better when the album gets released on music sites.
