DREAMCATCHER: A Career In Song Ratings

There are a number of acts who have debuted in the past few decades and have dozens of song ratings on this blog. I thought it would be fun to lay these ratings out in chronological order, line-graph style, and take a macro view of their careers so far. Then, similar to my “Underrated K-pop” features, I can average their ratings into one mega-score and place them in a pantheon alongside other acts.

As always, this feature has some rules of its own. I’m including any “Song Review” ratings as part of this graph, including Japanese releases and collaborations with one other artist. I’m not including Buried Treasures or solo/sub-unit releases. For the ratings themselves, I’m using the most current number on this blog, so if a song was part of a “Risers and Fallers” or “Legendary Songs Inauguration” post, that’s the rating you’ll see displayed here. That means there will still be a few ratings here and there I find slightly inaccurate, but it’ll mostly reflect my up-to-date feelings.

Finally, these scores are completely subjective. Feel free to agree, disagree and argue (that’s part of the fun!), but know that this chart reflects the opinion of only one person (me).

  1. Dreamcatcher was so reliable. When they had a comeback, I knew I’d have that many tracks to add to my playlist. Prolly about an 8.5 average rating for me, and same as Nick few above 9 and few below 8.

  2. My first ult group, probably the most happy with this group as there’s always multiple songs to add to the playlist every comeback. Consistency was key here, the group had a core identity and sound (helped by in house producers Leez and Ollounder). CB to CB was a gradual shift rather than abrupt so I never had issue where I completely didnt click with cb at all. If you compare their debut era music with latest, there’s a clear evolution but the change was gradual, which I appreciated

  4. Very consistent graph! Dreamcatcher is one of my favorite groups, their hard rock/J-rock sound, aside from being catered to my tastes, was something very unique to the K-pop landscape, especially paired with their darker themes. They were also versatile in other genres too, such as EDM, R&B and even a bit of jazz. Plus they were hilarious in their variety/shows/lives, YouTuber insomnicsy has all the DC content you’ll ever need hehehe, always wishing the best for Deukae!!
