Rather than contain my “Risers and Fallers” feature to a single post in June, I’m going to share a bite-sized version at the end of each month. This will let me account for more songs and make a nice lead-in to the monthly round-up post.
I anticipate most of these ratings adjustments will be negligible: a 0.5 shift here, a 0.25 shift there. But, it’s a fun way to keep track of how my feelings on songs have changed over time – as well as which tracks currently have momentum on my playlist.
And remember, just because a song is marked as a “faller” doesn’t mean I hate it! Falling from a “9” to an “8.75” is no shame. 9+ rated songs occupy a totally different playlist in my music library, so I’m pretty particular about what qualifies. It’s a high bar.

Lemonade nooo 😭 it only grew more addictive for me over time, it’s such a fun earworm, it grew to an 8.75 for me.
If I too. The guys’ performances really enhances it for me, so glad to see it rise. It’s the same rating for me.
But damn Do Your Dance! I haven’t seen such a massive rise in a short time since Pass The Mic. It’s a 7.75 for me though.
On the other hand, Boompala only fell for me, from a 6.75 to a 6.5. It’s just too… bland and annoying.

OMG I just noticed that I wrote that song title wrong, please forgive me. I keep getting confused between ‘do the dance’ and ‘do your dance’. Probably because I like both songs. 😭🙏

LEMONADE (especially the Becky G remix) and METRONOME grew even more on me. Do your dance did just slightly. I love the production, but I hope they never do that shit again.

I can’t imagine calling a tastefully composed track with interesting harmonies, melodies, and polished production straight up trash

I tried giving Do Your Dance another listen aftewards. Unfortunately it still did not work that well for me as the intro just ruined it everytime, but I can appreciate the dynamic production style. I am still confused with Lemon Tang, but I enjoy the vocal snippets a little bit now. The fallers song also happened to me. aespa’s Lemonade just grew more grating with more listen and babymonster SHIT won’t ever enter my ear again this summer. SHINee Atmos, TWS Dream with Us, and lesserafim BOOMPALA really grew on me with more replay.

Metronome has become one of my favourite songs of this year, in this edm/techno/hyperpop/whatever it should be called phase, I find it fresh.
Lemonade has grown on me, I found the vocal delivery a bit too pitchy at first but the beat saves it for me.
I have no reason to not like curious as much as I do but there’s something about it which makes me groan whenever I hear the chorus, and every listen it gets worse.
And though I wish to have people’s optimism with do your dance, it’s also fallen for me.

i LOVED shinee and stayc’s comebacks!!! without question the highlights of this month for me musically. i’m starting to warm up to hearts2hearts- i didn’t care for their music until focus era but they’re quickly becoming my favorite 5th gen group.
lemonade had some neat ideas but they weren’t executed properly. i think we’re past the point where aespa are going to give us vocal spectacles and i just need to accept that. every other song on this list i’m either neutral on or don’t care for.

IDID’s FLY! rly deserves more attention and has def grown on me too!! i’ll never shut up about their ‘refined hip-hop post-nct’ sound cause they rly do it so well with the mix of rapping and sprawling melodies. im a lil worried about starships plans w aen tho and hope both groups get the support and promo they need 🙏
