Woollim Entertainment has had an unusually barren year so far, releasing just a handful of tracks and only one official comeback. But Kwon Eunbi has recently been gaining attention online, making this the perfect time to remind fans that she is a fierce performer first and foremost. The Flash pairs her with talents from the Newtype and Full8loom production teams, both of which have been longtime collaborators with the agency.
The Flash isn’t perfect, but I love how upbeat and propulsive it becomes. When the song gets going, there’s little that can stand in its way. Working my way backwards, The Flash is most impressive during its bombastic finale. Few K-pop songs build toward this type of climax anymore, making these moments worth waiting for. Additional vocals add fullness to the chorus, which was already strong to begin with.
Now, we just need to coax producers to stop tiptoeing around their best ideas. The Flash‘s opening verse feels like set-up when the song could have simply launched into its best bits. I’m not mad at it, but if you’re going to drop a thumping dance beat just give it to us straight for the full three-and-a-half minutes. No need to slow things for the verses! Still, this is a minor gripe within a song that is quite strong overall. In fact, I think this is Eunbi’s best title track so far.

Mother Eunbi slays yet again… personally, nothing tops Glitch, but this is an extremely, extremely close second (and, after a bit more time for it to settle, might actually top Glitch?! We will see!). That instrumental in the chorus is SERIOUSLY addictive. When I heard the orchestral build-up in the teaser, I was like, “yeah this sounds incredible but it’s probably just for the teaser to make it sound atmospheric…” AND THEN THEY USED IT IN THE ACTUAL BRIDGE. That bridge gives me goosebumps oh my god.

I agree with both your comments.
There is an open space for strong female soloists in kpop =right now= which Kwon Eunbi is walking right into with this song.

Yep, they are really close. A mash-up just waiting.
And I miss Rocket Punch too. I played the shit out of “Bouncy” and “Juicy” back when.

They’re not the same song. They might sound similar to you, but these are totally different songs.

didnt live up to Underwater, but certainly an exciting listen. I didn’t know how much I missed an exciting chorus when I braced myself with that prechorus with a boring anti drop that’s been plaguing kpop. Let out a large sigh of relief when that didnt happen. One of the better tracks released this/last month

For me, the melody does not have instantly memorable qualities. However, I will probably appreciate it a lot more in a few listens. I still prefer Underwater and Glitch, but this could easily change with time.

I am a RUBI, this is just the best song of her after Glitch but I guess it is just not catchy enough for the public however I just hope she can get one win đŸ˜¦

First off, LOVE the instrumental. Solid song throughout, though I feel like something’s missing in the chorus melody that doesn’t sell it as hard as it should? Like it feels like Eunbi’s singing some pretty high notes but it’s… lacking melodically… idk how to explain it. The chorus doesn’t knock me out as much as I feel like it could. I would’ve preferred if the part after “I fall in love” went back down, rather than repeated the high notes of “I fall in love” to provide some contrast/variety. But that’s just a tiny nitpick.
Still a gay club banger though đŸ’ƒ

I’m glad she finally committed to having a real chorus.
I will say it’s weird that her vocals and the verse instrumental basically ignore each other? Like they’re both happening in the same room but they’re not happening together.
It does sound like that Rocket Punch song. Also vaguely dated, although I can’t put my finger on why.
But, positive is that, with this song and Yena’s, it looks like the post-Izone curse does not extend past the 3rd song. There’s hope for Yuri’s next comeback!

I can hear WJSN in this song and I LOVE IT. I really missed this sound in Kpop and I’m glad this came out. Her vocals are amazing and work with the instrumentals so well. I love the build up, the satisfying chorus, the climax. This is such an incredible song.
9/10 for me.
This might be my favourite release of August and it’s only the 3rd of August.

i’m really excited for what august has to offer for us, august 2’s comebacks have been really solid!
but to be honest, i think this song is more of high 9’s for me. i’ll have to see how it ages before giving it a 10 đŸ˜ƒ
