THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from March 2 – 8

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. I must be in one of those moody stages because my favorites this week were:

    Treasure – Yellow

    Young Posse (10cm) – Cold

JHope’s Sweet Dreams is catchy and all that but I feel it’s following the bland trend and I don’t want to see that from him (or any BTS member).

I liked NewBeat’s unserious J to the E to the LLO…it’s just fun.

Again, my mood must be weird because I love BtoB, Onewe and Infinite, but their offerings did absolutely nothing for me🫤

  2. Boring week, except for jennie’s album. some of my favourite tracks from the album were handle bars, start a war, with the ie, starlight and filter. What about y’all?

    • Unfortunately, Jennie’s album struck me as an experience without much flavour. Maybe it’s my frustration with her artistic choice or even with the direction of pop in general – Lady Gaga’s latest album didn’t impress me either. But I’m glad it was a positive experience for other listeners

      • I also thought beyond Lady Gaga’s pre-releases, the new album material was all “serviceable”, which is great for most but disappointing from her. I won’t revisit any of the tracks besides Disease, Abra-Cadabra, and the Bruno Mars Collab.

Jennie’s album was also mostly meh, but handle bars, start a war, with the ie, starlight and filter, as KRISTI mentioned were the highlights, all around the high 7, low 8s range.

  3. I haven’t listened too much to K-Pop this week, or recently. My current listening has mostly been a mix of J-Pop (mostly Ado, admittedly) and the new Gaga album (which is incredible).

My favorite K-Pop adjacent thing this week is Siyeon’s “Wings of Steel” on the Elsword OST. For whatever damned reason, though, NECORD MUSIC decided to region-lock it to Korea on all streaming services, leaving outsiders with but a couple of YouTube uploads. This frustrates me so much because it’s by far my favorite Siyeon solo and my favorite Dreamcatcher-adjacent release in like the past year, and I need it on my workout playlists…
