THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from June 22 – 28

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  1. Wasn’t Outside rated lower than Wicked? Did the former manage to grow or did the latter fall?

But well, if I have to rank the songs of this week that I’ve listened to so far:
    1. Like You Better *song of the week!*
    2. Set Net G0?!
    3. Summer Was You
    4. Outside
    5. Gameboy
    6. F Girl
    7. On My Mind
    8. Dirty Work
    9. Wicked

    • It was rated lower initially. I guess it’s “grown” on me, though I dislike both songs. Outside has more of a hook, so it edges out Wicked in the end.

  2. have you talked about the music from kpop demon hunters anywhere on the website yet? I’d think you’d enjoy some of the songs, especially golden (honestly it reminds me of a more sentimental I AM by IVE) and soda pop… also I saw that there was generally negative comments of the movie on a different page, but I think the movie is well done. Not terribly cringy and it has pretty good commentary on the kpop industry. There was even a Korean studies professor recommending despite his prior biases.

  4. My highlights are Like You Better and the Katseye b-side M. I. A. (I’m still SO annoyed that it wasn’t the title track!)

Babymetal was also going to release a new album this week, but the release got pushed back to August. So I’m sad on a non-Kpop front. But I’ll wait as long as it takes to hear their collab song with Spiritbox.

  5. Extremely late on it but Like You Better is indeed very Carly Rae Jepsen, as you mention in your full review, such to the point you can overlay I Really Like You‘s chorus over this one’s and you’d get the exact same effect. That song is massive so I’m good with this song emulating it wholesale.
