Rather than contain my “Risers and Fallers” feature to a single post in June, I’m going to share a bite-sized version at the end of each month. This will let me account for more songs and make a nice lead-in to the monthly round-up post.
I anticipate most of these ratings adjustments will be negligible: a 0.5 shift here, a 0.25 shift there. But, it’s a fun way to keep track of how my feelings on songs have changed over time – as well as which tracks currently have momentum on my playlist.
And remember, just because a song is marked as a “faller” doesn’t mean I hate it! Falling from a “9” to an “8.75” is no shame. 9+ rated songs occupy a totally different playlist in my music library, so I’m pretty particular about what qualifies. It’s a high bar.
This month’s feature covers the period from June 23rd to July 20th.
RISERS
AHOF – Run To You
Rating: 8.5 → 8.75
Ascender – We Belong Together
Rating: 8.25 → 8.5
BOYNEXTDOOR – Adios!
Rating: 8 → 8.5
Seventeen V8 – singasong
Rating: 7.75 → 8.25
Super Junior-83z – Promise
Rating: 7.5 → 7.75
VAYONN – Watta Day
Rating: 7.25 → 8 *Biggest Riser*
FALLERS
Choi Sungyun – Blue Moon
Rating: 8 → 7.75
Lee Minhyuk (Huta) – Icy & Spicy
Rating: 8.25 → 8
RESCENE – Pretty Girl
Rating: 8.75 → 8.5
TRENDZ – On My Knees
Rating: 8.75 → 8.5
I already knew Adios was going to be a riser because it was spoiled in the BOYNEXTDOOR career in song ratings post. Anyways, I’m happy to see Watta Day rise for you, even if I prefer other songs on the album.

Run to You rose for me as well. I’m surprised you like singasong at all. Icy & Spicy is still bad…
BAD, on the other hand, has risen for me 😎

Bad has only gotten worse every listen, it was like a 5.75 when I first rated it and now it’s a flat 5.
But on a more positive note, I think I have a pretty solid top 3 this month with Muah and Pretty Girl both being 8.75, but we’ll see how The Wind’s comeback on the 30th does for me.
I’m still not sure with Run To You since I haven’t played it as often, it’s still an 8.5 as of now.

i knew rescene’s pretty girl was a faller. personally, same. the vocal layering being so thin started to become so grating. ofc, it’s still PRETTY GIRL, but it might as well be a cover, so why not just listen to the superior original?

Surprisingly, Nick, the song that rose for me this month, wasn’t even released in this month. Actually, it wasn’t even released in the 2020s. We have to go all the back to 2014. Usually, songs don’t grow on me that much or they fall a bit but I was going through your Summer of K-pop playlist from 2021(https://thebiaslist.com/features/summer-of-k-pop/) and there was this one song that I just kept thinking about and feels so much like summer. That song is …….. f(x)’s Vacance. I thought it was bit too slow at first but then something about the 60s styled vocal production and the ease of the production made me kept thinking about it. Then it started listening to it again and again and again. The ease became so infectious, it couldn’t stop myself from lounging back and letting the music play. Also, I want to say thank you for making that list because it really is saving my summer. I found so many gems from groups I didn’t even know existed and of course, ending off with I Swear was perfection. Anyway, here’s my updated rating of the song and I see it getting higher over time.
I will also link Nick’s post if anyone wants to take a listen.
Original rating: 8.5 (8,8,10,8)
New Rating: 9.25(9,9,10,9)
