K-Pop A-Z: Infinite – Be Mine

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

Keep up with Infinite’s A-Z reviews here!

Be Mine (from Over The Top / Paradise – 2011)

What to say about one of modern k-pop’s most iconic songs? Be Mine is a perfect encapsulation of Sweetune’s synth-driven 80’s sound — so flawlessly written that it feels disarmingly simple, as if the melody has been around for as long as anyone can remember. Its verses blend propulsive electronics with some truly nimble rhythm guitar, building up to that pulse-pounding, impossibly catchy chorus. Infinite’s vocals interweave to create one overriding voice, matching their trademark ‘knife-like” choreography with a layering of sound that feels equally in step. Be Mine is a pop song with absolutely no fat on its bones, streamlined to deliver one high point after another. It’s become one of the most legendary boy group breakthroughs for a reason.

  6. I’ve finally begun wading my way into Infinite’s discography (for the longest time The Chaser and Air were the only two Infinite songs on my playlist).

What a great song. This chorus is absolutely legendary, and the mic screech(?) is actually a really nice touch (considering how abrasive they normally sound).
