Just like last year, I wanted to share my top twenty most-viewed posts for 2024. I find this list an interesting gauge of who is popular (at least among netizens who read reviews).
The most obvious takeaway from this list is the utter dominance of girl groups. Seriously, there’s only one boy group in the entire top twenty and you have to go even further down (Seventeen at number 36) to find another. I don’t know exactly what this means given the fact that both boy and girl groups continue to sell well and promote successfully. I guess girl group stans are more apt to search out information online?

I love when a super positive review gains traction since I feel like most of my most popular posts are for songs I don’t like as much.
8. Song Review: NewJeans – Bubble Gum
This was not the buzziest NewJeans single of the year, but it was the earliest and most popular review.
7. Song Review: IVE – HEYA
IVE still command plenty of international attention.
6. Song Review: Stray Kids – Chk Chk Boom
Stray Kids seem to be the one boy group who can pierce the online popularity of girl groups.
5. Song Review: ILLIT – Magnetic
The top-viewed debut track this year. That’s not too surprising!
4. Song Review: IU – Love Wins All
It’s nice to see that IU still attracts tons of attention for her music.
3. Song Review: aespa – Supernova
I’m not surprised to see this here given its massive popularity this year.
2. Song Review: Rosé (BLACKPINK) x Bruno Mars – APT.
Again, I’m not surprised to see this here given its popularity, but the fact it’s only been out for a couple of months makes this even more impressive.
1. Song Review: BABYMONSTER – Sheesh
I guess everyone was curious to see how people were feeling about the polarizing Sheesh. Hopefully the review didn’t disappoint, because plenty of readers flocked to it.

I was thinking your most popular post this year was Jennie with Mantra, because of so many comments. There were comments from people who had never commented on the blog, just to be show off offended. It’s funny how blinks are usually the most sensitive ones here

To be fair, Supernova was released a month and a half after Sheesh, and besides, there are more streaming services than Spotify, where Supernova dominated the scene

Right my bad, I should’ve said Spotify. I wonder if anyone tabulates all the various streaming services, including sales and whatnot, internationally and domestically? It’d be cool to see those numbers tabulated.

YG group stans, if nothing else, know how to stream well. I’ll give them that. I was most surprised by Magnetic. I know it’s incredibly popular, but sometimes vitality doesn’t necessarily translate into substantially enormous video views. Could it also be because it was their debut? I find that for most groups, they get most attention during debut, and it also helps they debuted from a popular reality show

Expected Sheesh to be somewhere around the top. Definitely got polarizing opinions (mostly hate). Also expected Mantra to be around the Top 10, especially given your reviews did spark some heated arguments. Idk, maybe I happen to judge the “popularity” of your posts based on how many comments it gets. :p But I am surprised to be APT. this high! Especially given it came quite late too. Looks like it’s the Gangnam Style of the 2020s, eh?
Anyways, I wonder if you plan to do a revisit to your Top 10 songs of 2023 like how you did for 2022 last year? Or does the 2023 list remain unchanged?
