Notice: Upcoming Change in Review Schedule

As some of you know, in addition to being a K-pop blogger I’m a school librarian, which means my life is about to get very busy again now that summer is drawing to a close. Pandemic changes over the past year and a half allowed for more flexibility, but now that we’re back to “normal” (ha!), I’ll soon be reverting to my pre-2020 review schedule.

Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays won’t be affected, but Tuesday-Friday’s reviews will be pushed back eight hours or so starting on August 31st — published in the afternoon (US Pacific time) instead of the morning. Monday, August 30th will also be affected in this way.

So, if you don’t find a new review when you expect it, there’s no need to be surprised or worried. As always, I remain committed to writing about comebacks on the day of release. It might just be a little later in the day!

I didn’t know you were a school librarian, that’s cool!

  2. As Pikachu said above (oh god, typing that feels weird), this allows me to process and type up my thoughts prior to reading your review, though they obviously will be shorter, I will save the bulk for my blog haha! Hope you have fun!

Off-Topic: Is it not weird (and cool) that many of the K-Reviewers are students or teachers (or something related to the education system), especially when they start? Something about modern education being tied to Korean music? I don’t know, but if any researchers want to waste some money, this might be something worth looking into…

  3. But Nick! How are people supposed to complain about your bias towards Woollim artists now?

Jokes aside, of course I understand. Just returned to grad school myself after a long summer break, so not like I’ll get to be reading them at the previous time either. Your dedication to this astounds me — I could never keep up a daily blogging schedule for more than a month, let alone years like you have!

  4. I am quite happy about this, because I can just sleep and when I wake up the next day, I’ll find a new fresh review right there! Our timezones are different so I normally have to quench my butt in anticipation for 5-7 hours..

  6. A school librarian? Woah. You learn something new every day.
That’s awesome! I would be so pumped if I got to know a teacher who’s a K-pop enthusiast like you.

They say creativity is a two edged sword: it serves as a motivation, but it’s also a creator’s worst enemy known as perfection (and also procrastination).
So I find it so admirable that you juggle between your job and still writing out reviews here.

Thank you for letting your fellow readers know what is going on, Nick! And I hope you will continue to take good care of yourself in these stressful times 🙂

  7. Finally! I’ve been wondering for a while 😛 No wonder why you’re so organised and meticulous with your reviews and lists. As someone who loves to read, hats off to you for being a book guardian!
Thank you for letting us know in advance. As long as you keep writing, the schedule doesn’t matter because reading your reviews has become an essential part of every comeback now 😀 Take care of your health and good luck!

  8. You’ve shown so much dedication to the blog. Honestly, if you only did main releases I wouldn’t mind, but you go that extra mile with a bunch of good features. You even tell us what album tracks are worth our time. You make whatever changes you like.

Also you would’ve made for a great school librarian. All of mine sucked

  9. That is SO RAD that you are a school librarian! Such an important job and I think that definitely explains the attention to detail and love of categorizing on this blog, lol. I honestly don’t care what time of day you post; I’m just impressed by your ability to write so much each day while also having a job! I mean, I can barely keep up with reading all the posts, can’t even image the work it would take to write them.

Also funny how many in these commenters are in related fields! I don’t do it any more, but to this day my favorite job I’ve ever had was working in my university’s library while I was in grad school:)

Coming home and reading your reviews has become near therapeutic for me haha. I commend you for consistently writing every day and thank you for providing a platform where we can have civil discussions about music!

  12. I’ve been a pretty quiet but consistent viewer of your site and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your dedication to your site and all that I’ve learned about music through it. Good luck with your job and take care! As always, I’ll look forward to your thoughts on future music. 🙂
