How’s that for a very Bias List specific title of a post? The thing is, after a very long drought, we’re on the verge of our first Sweetune-produced title track in many, many months with the release of BBGirls’ new single on the 15th!! Before that, I’ve got a bit of an unusual playlist for you — inspired by the blog’s own comments section.
As most of you already know, Sweetune are my favorite K-pop producers. They haven’t been consistently active for years, but when they do make a return it’s usually with a total banger. If you’re reading this, you probably also know that these guys have a very identifiable sound, including the way they arrange vocals, the synth textures they use and their marriage of electric guitar and brisk dance beats. It’s gotten to the point where I can spot a Sweetune track a mile away before I even know they’re involved.
Because their sound is so specific, there really aren’t a ton of other songs that sound exactly like them. However, I did my best to compile a short list of tracks so Sweetune-coded they might even fool me. I’m sure I missed a ton (I barely even dipped my foot into J-pop), since I mainly relied on music I’ve written about on the blog. So in my dream scenario, you’d all comment with dozens more Sweetune sound-alikes and together we’ll build our own “generic brand Sweetune” playlist!
I always thought Boyfriend’s I’ll Be There was Sweetune-ish. I don’t know how to explain it, but in my head, it just clicks.

I should really make a habit of looking at the producer tag!

Oh nice, listening to these now. It never occurred to me that Alice’s Dance On is Sweetune-like, but now I can totally hear it.
I was going to say NewUs’s Love Panic, because in your review you compared it to Infinite’s 1st single, Come Back Again, but then I remembered: Sweetune didn’t produce that.
I’m surprised you didn’t list some of GFriend’s early singles, especially their Rough, Navillera, and Fingertip era. Iggy Yongbae surely must’ve been influenced by Sweetune at this period of their career. (I don’t know if I’m correct or not, but it seems their previous and later work, was less obviously Sweetune-indebted.)
Oh, and that new orchestral version of TWS’s Hey Hey gives me Infinite vibes, due to being so epic and energetic.

Some mention on the great Wake Me Up by Blue Fox, that song never fails to remind of a less successful version of 9muses – Wild, having said that, it’s still a slightly worse Wild which is still a freaking amazing song.

My favorite discovery right now is Road Boyz’s Show Me Bang Bang. Wow, how is that not Sweetune at the controls? This one’s a big keeper for me.

Wow, this was a treat. I tried to find BeatWin’s official audio for Your Girl, and it’s non-existent, and that’s so weird for a 3rd gen artist (it was released in 2016). It was definitely odd, since their other music is on YouTube.
I was wondering if you would do a similar feature with Yoo Young-Jin. He’s one of my favorite producers, but he’s a sort of chameleon, so it’s might be difficult to find too many songs

I found a decent mp3 here, it’s 192kbs, not great, but serviceable https://mp3.pm/search/s/f/beatwin+your+girl/
